Weddings often bring tears of joy, and four-year-old Gage learned that firsthand when his father, US Marine Sgt. Joshua Newville, married Senior Airman Emily Leehan in Ripley, New York.
Gage was holding it together—until Leehan began reading vows she had written just for him. As she said, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person,” Gage broke down in tears and hugged her tightly. The crowd responded with a heartfelt “awww.”
Leehan continued, telling Gage: “You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind. I may not have given you the gift of life, but life gave me the gift of you.” Both she and Newville were moved to tears, but Gage stole the show with his emotional reaction.
Though the couple returned to duty at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst right after the wedding, the ceremony was unforgettable—a touching reminder of the power of love and family.
